As early voting begins today, I want to take a moment to share a about an important item on the ballot this election season: Proposition 5.
If passed, Proposition 5 will establish the Texas University Fund, or the TUF, a $3.9 billion endowment that will create a perpetual, sustainable source of funding for emerging research institutions like our flagship institution, Texas Tech University.
The TUF involves no new taxes for Texans. Ultimately, if Proposition 5 passes, the creation of the TUF will be a distinctively transformative moment in history not just for higher education,
not just for the state of Texas, but for all the people and communities we serve across
our great state 鈥� and beyond.
