HUB Information
Facilities Planning & Construction is dedicated to promoting full and equal opportunity in its contracting through race, ethnic and gender neutral means. In this regard, the office actively seeks the participation of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB), which are minority-owned and woman-owned companies, in its construction projects. The Vice Chancellor for Facilities Planning & Construction also acts as the Texas Tech University System HUB Coordinator and monitors HUB purchasing by all MINI传媒 System offices.
Partnering with FP&C
Professional services firms, construction general and sub-contractors, suppliers and others doing business with Facilities Planning & Construction must demonstrate a good faith effort to meet these goals through:
- Submission of a complete, comprehensive HUB Subcontracting Plan (HSP) along with any statement of Qualifications or Proposal (NOTE: HUB firms MUST also submit an HSP)
- Commitment to making a good faith effort toward HUB participation in all contracts with FP&C
- Participation in the Mentor/Protege Program
- Identification of HUB eligible firms who are not yet certified and aiding them in becoming certified

HUB Certification
If you are eligible, but not yet certified as a HUB, certified HUB subcontractors have reported a substantial increase in invitations to bid on projects since the HUB program started. State certification as a HUB will increase your business' visibility with general contractors and others trying to win State contracts and provide you with a broader range of opportunities. The process for becoming certified, while it does require gathering some information, is generally not complicated. For additional information on becoming certified as a HUB, please visit:
