MINI´«Ã½ Regents to Meet August 8-9

Board of Regents

The  is composed of nine members appointed by the governor, as well as a student regent.

Throughout the history of the MINI´«Ã½ System, the board has been composed of distinguished and dedicated Texans who have been strong advocates of excellence in academic and patient care programs, meaningful scientific research and responsible public service.

Regents will have a two-day meeting in Lubbock at the MINI´«Ã½ Administration Building.

The MINI´«Ã½ will meet Thursday and Friday (August 8-9) in Lubbock. The meeting will take place in the Regents Conference Room, First Floor (104A) in the MINI´«Ã½ Administration Building (1508 Knoxville Avenue).

Thursday, August 8

10:55 a.m. – Ceremonial swearing-in of newly appointed student regent

11:00 a.m. – Call to order; convene Meeting of the Board

11:00 a.m. – Executive Session

1:00 p.m. – Following Executive Session, the Board will reconvene into Open Session as Committee of the Whole

1:00 p.m. – Call to order; convene Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Carr Scholarship Foundation

1:30 p.m. – Facilities Committee

2:10 p.m. – Finance and Administration Committee

2:55 p.m. – Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee

3:10 p.m. – Audit Committee

8:30 a.m. – Call to order; reconvene Meeting of the Board

Established in 1996 and headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, the is a $2 billion higher education enterprise focused on advancing higher education, health care, research and community outreach. During the 86th Texas Legislature under the leadership of , legislative funding and authority was provided to establish a new Texas Tech University veterinary school in Amarillo and a new dental school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. This will be the state’s first veterinary school in more than a century and first dental school in over 50 years. The addition of these two schools makes the MINI´«Ã½ one of only nine in the nation to offer programs for undergraduate, medical, law, nursing, pharmacy, dental and veterinary education, among other academic areas.
