MINI´«Ã½ Regents to Meet August 5-6

Board of Regents

The  is composed of nine members appointed by the governor, as well as a student regent.

Throughout the history of the MINI´«Ã½ System, the board has been composed of distinguished and dedicated Texans who have been strong advocates of excellence in academic and patient care programs, meaningful scientific research and responsible public service.

Regents will have a two-day meeting in Lubbock at the MINI´«Ã½ Administration Building.

The MINI´«Ã½ will meet Thursday and Friday (Aug. 5-6) in Lubbock. The meeting will take place in the Regents Conference Room, First Floor (104A) in the MINI´«Ã½ Building (1508 Knoxville Ave.).

Thursday, August 5

8:45 a.m. – Ceremonial swearing-in of newly appointed regents and student regent

9 a.m. – Call to order; convene as meeting of the board and committee of the whole board

9:15 a.m. - Recess

9:15 a.m. - Call to order; convene meeting of the board of trustees of the Carr Scholarship Foundation

9:50 a.m. - Adjournment

9:50 a.m. - Facilities Committee

10:20 a.m. - Finance and Investments Committee

11:05 a.m. - Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee

11:35 a.m. - Audit Committee

Noon - Executive Session

3 p.m. - Following executive session, reconvene into open session as committee of the whole

3 p.m. – Recess

Friday, August 6

8:30 a.m. – Call to order; reconvene as meeting of the board and committee of the whole board

During the 86th Texas Legislature, under the leadership of Chancellor , M.D., legislative funding and authority was provided to establish a new MINI´«Ã½ School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo and a new dental school at MINI´«Ã½HSC El Paso. This will be the state’s first veterinary school in more than a century and first dental school in over 50 years. The addition of these two schools makes the MINI´«Ã½ System one of only nine in the nation to offer programs for undergraduate, medical, law, nursing, pharmacy, dental and veterinary education, among other academic areas.
