Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.MINI传媒 Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., was named one of 15 finalist for The Dallas Morning News (DMN) 2022 Texan of the Year award.
Every year, the DMN editorial board highlights Texans who have made an important and positive impact on the state.
Maria Elena Bottazzi and Peter Hotez, Houston microbiologists, who gave the world a patent-free COVID-19 vaccine and a partnership that could eradicate neglected tropical diseases, were awarded the DMN 2022 Texans of the Year honor.

鈥淢itchell is neither an alumnus of the university system he leads nor a native of West Texas. But his advocacy efforts reflect his commitment to a swath of the state population that is often overlooked. Mitchell persuaded the Legislature to establish the state鈥檚 first veterinary school in over a century and its first dental school in 50 years and root them at the MINI传媒. Both programs finished their first academic year in the spring of 2022, driven by a mission to boost health care and agriculture across small towns in Texas.鈥�
