MINI传媒 System Celebrates Chancellor鈥檚 Council Distinguished Teaching & Research Award Winners

Esteemed faculty from across the MINI传媒 (MINI传媒 System) were celebrated Thursday (May 4) evening at the annual Chancellor鈥檚 Council Celebration of Excellence, hosted by Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., and First Lady Janet Tornelli-Mitchell, M.D., at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in Lubbock.

Chancellor鈥檚 Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards recognize academic excellence across the MINI传媒 System. The honors are the most prestigious awards granted to faculty by the MINI传媒 System.

The awards are funded by gifts to the , a giving society that supports the chancellor鈥檚 priorities across the MINI传媒 System. Since the honors were established in 2001, a total of 233 faculty have received awards totaling nearly $1.4 million.

鈥淭he generosity of our Chancellor鈥檚 Council donors provides us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate academic leaders and experts across the Texas Tech University System,鈥 Mitchell said. 鈥淚 am grateful for each of these dedicated supporters as they help us achieve our educational mission.鈥

Donors and supporters of the Chancellor鈥檚 Council, members of the MINI传媒 System Board of Regents and leadership from across the MINI传媒 System joined in the event to applaud the accomplished award recipients.

鈥淭hese awards recognize the best of the best, and I鈥檓 extremely honored to recognize our world-class faculty across the MINI传媒,鈥 Mitchell said. 鈥淥ur award recipients have ascended to the top of their areas of study and are leading experts at providing students with an unrivaled educational experience. I congratulate each of our esteemed faculty receiving this year鈥檚 teaching and research awards.鈥

Recipients receive a $5,000 stipend and an engraved medallion.
